If you have a mum or a partner who is a mum, or know a mum you admire and deserves treating this year - of all years, don’t be boring and don't delay - order your wine straight away for the best chance to get wine to your mum in time, as freight is under a lot of pressure. Any dozen orders will receive some seeds from our garden, and don't hesitate to personalise a message which we will include for you. Your mum is probably already bored to tears - so don’t insult her with the stereotypical mother's day gift. She deserves something more interesting than that.
Our mother's day offers are for mum’s that care about the environment and hope the world learns something from Covid. Mum’s that enjoy complexity in their food, wine and people. Creative mums, mums that garden, mums that work outside or in the home, mums who might be lonely. Maybe even mums who are men! The founder of Bellwether is a single mum, who has worked so hard to create a place where creativity is shared and thrives, both in the winery, garden and kitchen, or on the stage or walls, or even hanging from the rafters. |

We thought we would highlight our Italian and Spanish varietals - as they are thriving in the Australian climate. Sad times in Italy and Spain right now, reminds us of the beauty their culture has influenced Australian tables. Look, it isn’t rocket science that Mediterranean varieties suit our climate so well - it’s good old common sense. Varieties that don’t require much water, love a bit of sunshine and add diversity to our life.
Bellwether Ant series 2018 Montepulciano - it just sounds good to say it, let alone put it in your mouth. Think soaked cherry, chocolate - cocoa tannins. Grown by Ashley (Pictured below) and Holly Ratcliff (Ricca Terra Farms, past ASVO Viticulturist of the year and Gourmet Traveller Viticulturist of the year) in Barmera, Riverland - hand pruned, hand picked, whole berry natural ferment. 2018 was a great year - rapid fruit set, even and fine.
We only have 10 cases left so be quick - buy online (freight free) HERE Normally $30/bottle, but for you this mother's day a dozen is now only just over $23/bottle |

With the Italian theme we will catch up Benedetta Rusconi (Pictured below with Chiara, Brian & Luca), friend of my daughter and I, originally from Milan. Benedetta, a photo-journalist, fell in love with a local Rose farmer (Brian Wagner) from Kalangadoo. They live in Penola and together run Wagner Roses. Our daughter's have been close friends since kindy.
We will catch up with Benedetta at the Rose farm in between home schooling activities this week on our #virtualcommunity live facebook feed on Wednesday 29th April at 3pm (SA time). |

Sunday 3rd May - 2pm (SA time) |
| We will also cross live to one of our favourite chefs Frank Camorra who created Movida, a restaurant that changed the landscape of dining in Australia. Frank has always been innovative, but also very respectful to long held traditions in food.
Frank cooked at our third Sips in the Sticks - it was a special day, followed by a cooking class for locals on the Monday. Rarely does Sue visit Melbourne without dropping in to Movida for hand filleted anchovy on crouton, with smoked tomato sorbet and a cheeky Fino sherry. | |
